Through FFA, 4-H, NHS and numerous other clubs our brothers have been involved with in high school, giving back to the community was always emphasized. The following are some of the philanthropy events we participate in throughout the year:
AGRs Blood Drive
Each fall and spring, AGR organizes and manages a Red Cross Blood Drive. The Red Cross arrives with a mobile unit that allows 35-40 donors to donate that day. This drive has occurred for over 40 years, and has helped save the lives of thousands of people.
Alpha Gamma Rho Barn Days
Alpha Gamma Rho hosts an annual fall philanthropy. The money we raise from this event goes to Second Harvest Heartland, which is a food bank that provides food for families in the Twin Cities area. Our philanthropy event consists of carnival games like ring toss and "Rope an AGR", a date auction, and a baby farm animal petting zoo. This event is a great way for AGRs to get involved and help those who need it most.
Spring Jam/Homecoming and other events
During Spring Jam, Homecoming, and throughout the year there are many opportunities for giving. The philanthropy chairman is in charge of informing and organizing the multitude of philanthropy events that the University, Greek community, and student organizations have to offer. These range from clothing and food drives to a Relay for Life, and more!
